“Jeevanadam”
“Jeevanadam”, (Malayalam Weekly) the mouthpiece of the Latin Catholic Community was released by Mr. Oscar Fernandez, Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, in a grand function at the St. Albert’s College Auditorium. “Development will be complete only with the empowerment of the poor. Let this magazine be the voice of the voiceless so that their living standards improve and they become part of the development processes”, said Mr. Fernandez in the speech followed by the release. The function was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Mr. K. C. Venugopal representing the Chief Minister. His Grace Dr. Daniel Acharuparambil presided over the function. Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil delivered the benedictory-talk. Ministers V. K. Ebrahim Kunju and Mominic Presentation, MPs Sebastian Paul and K. S. Manoj, MlAs K. V. Thomas, Shibu Baby John and Ludy Luiz spoke. Bishop John Thattunkal welcomed the gathering.

“Priests are called to be the light of the world. The formation to priesthood begins already at home. The seminary set up can only facilitate the development of the goodness in a person. It is very difficult to retrieve what is lost in the childhood,” said Archbishop Daniel Acharuparambil. He was presiding over the valedictory function of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of St. Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary Carmelgiri, Alwaye. Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil, the Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church, inaugurated the meeting. His Excellency Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Kariyil, the bishop of Punaloor delivered the benedictory talk. Mr. Dominic Presentation, Hon. Minister of Sports and Fisheries, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Dr Bosco Puthur, Rector, Mangalapuzha Seminary, Very Rev. Dr. James Anaparambil, President of the Pontifical Institute, Rev. Dr. Manuel Rebeiro, Very Rev. Mother Albina, CTC, Mother General, Mr. Satheesh MLA, Prof. Mercy Williams, worshipful Mayor of Cochin, Mr. T. P. Shaji, Panchayath President of Karumalloor, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Etturuthil, Rector, Carmelgiri Seminary and Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, the Vice-Rector, Carmelgiri Seminary spoke in the meeting.
